Most touch screen PDAs that run the Windows Mobile 5 or Mobile 6 Professional operating systems (check our technical specifications).

New models are coming onto the market at such a rate that it is hard to keep up. Talk to a mobile device reseller (we can put you in contact with one). We recommend the PDAs shown in bold below.

Non wireless

If you don’t need to go wireless, then there is a range of PDAs available. We recommend the HP iPAQ 2000 series (2190, 2490, 2790).
Other suitable PDAs are:
§         i-mate PDA-N
§         Dupod P100
We don’t recommend the Dell Axim range, as Dell has announced that it will be discontinuing PDAs.
Wireless
If you are going wireless, usually the best option is to obtain a combined PDA and data plan from a telco. An advantage is that part or all of the price of the PDA can be spread over say 24 months. Alternatively, you can buy a wireless capable PDA from an IT dealer and then buy a data plan from your telco.

**We don't recommend the Okta Touch because of processor limitations and the Okta Boss isn't compatible with SmartTrade as it doesn't have a touch screen.

§         Intermech CN3
§         i-mate Jamin

§         I-mate JasJar
Before buying one of these devices, please check that it wil operate on your telco's wireless network (GPRS, CDMA, HSDPA etc).
If printing in the field, it is important that the PDA and mobile printer use a common communication protocol. For recommendations on mobile printers, click here.
