 SmartTrade Hall of Fame Minimize

Just as sports honour their great champions by induction into a Hall of Fame, the SmartTrade Hall of Fame will recognise those tradees who distinguish themselves with glorious deeds (or in some cases, inglorious deeds, more of a House of Shame).

  • The very first inductee into the SmartTrade Hall of Fame is Peter Vandenberg of Atlas Plumbing (Auckland New Zealand)  for his Bentley plumber's van. For the technically minded and petrolheads, the Bentley has a 12 cylinder 6 litre engine that puts out enough power to light Al Gore's house, and it does 0 to 100 kph in about the time it takes your brother-in-law to claim that he's left his wallet at home when it's his turn to pay for the drinks. This magnificent piece of machinery cost Peter about NZ$360,000 (about $US250,000 in real money).
  • The first inductee into the SmartTrade Hall of Shame is an unknown plumber who showed extraordinary skills doing donuts in his van. Might be worth checking the tyres on the boys' vans! If you've got GPS tracking on your vans, ask the supplier whether the system can be programmed to detect when a van does 37 spins in 2 minutes.

Candidates for induction into the SmartTrade House of Fame will assessed by a process that is rigorous, objective and democratic (the SmartTrade team will take a vote after a few beers on Friday afternoon). Bribes will be gratefully received (the SmartTrade team has a special liking for Guinness and Kilkenny) and the judges will not accept appeals (unless accompanied by a really big bribe). Nominate someone for entry into the SmartTrade Hall of Fame.
